CAIRO, Feb. 21 (SEE)- Sayed Mekawy is a famous Egyptian singer and composer who lost his sight when his father died. He cried for days after this incident. Even when he stopped crying, the tears kept flowing. Days later, he lost his sight.
Despite the surrounding circumstances, Mekawy did not surrender and managed to be one of the remarkable figures in the musical field, not only in Egypt, but across the Arab world as well.

Egyptian spectators, who attended the Root’s Revival event at the Cairo Opera House’s Hanagr Theater, linked Mekawy with Hovhannes Jan Hovhannisyan who came from Armenia to Egypt for the first time, to perform at the spectacular show.
15-year-old Hovhannisyan
is an Armenian boy who was born blind. In 2013, he was adopted by a priest’s
family. That was when he initiated his musical career, fully supported by the
priest’s wife Anahit Hovhannisyan.
His talent quickly went beyond the national level. From Ghazarous Saryan Institute where he started his singing, and vocal studies, he was invited in 2015 at the Richard Wagner Conservatory in Vienna, to discipline his voice and to sing at concerts.
At an international festival in Moscow, Russia, he won the highest award in 2014. Also, the famous opera singer Leopov Gazarnoviska invited him in 2016 to the Giuseppe Tartini International music Festival in Slovenia. A year later, he took part in festivals held in Italy, Slovenia, and Austria.
Regarding his musical future, it is obvious that Hovhannisyan is keen on reaching the highest levels. However, he has another wish, which is to become a governor in the Armenian capital of Yerevan.

“Yerevan is a beautiful city where I wish to become a governor, to offer better services to people who are blind,” he expressed.
Inspired by his love to Yerevan, Hovhannisyan
included “Yerevan Nights” amongst the songs he performed in Cairo.
