CAIRO, Jan.4 (SEE)- Manchester City handed Liverpool their first league loss this season, handing them a 2-1 defeat.

The result gives Pep Guardiola his 100th win as City boss and moves the reigning champions up to second place. City are now four points adrift of Jurgen Klopp's side and very much in contention following their mini festive blip that saw them slump to back-to-back league defeats for the first time in two years.

Aguero opened the scoring in the 40th minute giving City the lead. Firmino then equalized in the 60th minute giving Liverpool the attacking momentum they needed to rebound. Although Liverpool gained their attacking edge, Sane scored City's winning goal in the 72nd minute giving his team the victory.
