PM Explores with Orange CEO Areas of Extra Possible Cooperation

CAIRO, Jan. 29 (SEE) – Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouli received today Mr. Stephane Richard, chairman and CEO of Orange International. The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

During the meeting, Dr. Madbouli hailed Orange’s investments in Egypt as one of the world’s leading telecommunications companies. He stressed that Egypt looks forward to boost cooperation with the company by increasing its investments in Egypt in new areas of interest to the company in its expansion plans around the world.

On other hand, Dr. Madbouli said that the important talks held between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron yesterday tackled proposals to increase French investments in Egypt, including the investments of Orange.

Nader Saad, official spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, said that the company’s President expressed readiness to provide all possible assistance to Egypt in organizing the upcoming African Nations Cup, especially since Orange is the second largest official sponsor of African football championships.

On his part, Mr. Richard expressed the Company’s aspiration to launch cooperation with Egypt in the field of health by promoting the use of digital technology to facilitate access to health services for citizens, as the company has done in several countries.

The third area of possible cooperation was about information security and ways to secure the Internet against piracy. Mr. Richard pointed out that the company has specialized units of trained professionals in this field, while praising, at the same time, skillful Egyptian technicians working in the company in Egypt.

The PM welcomed the cooperation in those areas, and stressed that he will direct the relevant ministers to contact the company to activate these proposals and explore new areas of cooperation with Orange.
