Jury committee starts evaluating universities

SEE -September 2nd: In line with the initiative announced by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi when he asked about the best university to host the next youth conference, a competition was launched among universities to choose the best one which is capable to enhance its facilities and develop its abilities during the summer.

High Education Minister Khaled Abd ElGhaffar announced the a jury committee comprising of the   ministry, Cabinet, Administrative Control Authority (ACA), Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and ministry of planning, monitoring, and administrative reform - started evaluating the universities.

The minister added that the committee adopts certain criteria which focus on classes, workplaces, labs and training facilities and how all these are prepared to receive the new students and provide them with comfortable climate for studying. In addition an emphasis is paid to libraries and whether they are updated with new books as well as having technological abilities to facilitate searching.

“The committee will also be looking at the place as a whole, in terms of planted areas, and whether it’s well or poorly organized in terms of entrance and leaving, as well as the facilities and whether they are  suitable for their assigned function,” the minister said.

“It will also look at the slogan of the university and how it’s expressing the academic message of the place, and how the place is prepared for the students of special needs”.

 

Among the other criteria, the academic level of the university, and how it can raise its fund autonomously as well as its ability to improve the educational services it provides.

 

According to the minister, the universities will be evaluated as well in terms of their contribution to the community services and linking its academic staff with other sectors in the society as well as linking itself with sectors of industry and services.

 

The jury committee will also be looking at the extent of student participation in the activities held at the university and the quality of the health service provided there.
