CAIRO, Mar.3 (SEE) — Film star Johnny Depp filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against actress/ex-wife Amber Heard, after she accused him of domestic violence.

The lawsuit is in response to an essay Heard wrote for The Washington Post last December in which she discussed being a domestic abuse victim. The actress, however, never mentioned Depp by name.

“I had the rare vantage point of seeing, in real time, how institutions protect men accused of abuse. I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change,” she wrote in her essay.

It is worth mentioning that in 2016 Heard accused Depp of assaulting her during their short marriage.

According to the lawsuit obtained by The Blast, the notorious movie star described Heard's 2016 abuse allegations as “an elaborate hoax,”

To make matters worse, Depp’s attorneys are also alleging Heard was involved with Elon Musk -whom she dated after her porce- while she was still married to Depp.

Heard filed for porce from Depp in May 2016 with allegations the actor verbally and physically abused her not just during marriage, but during their whole relationship.

In a joint statement the couple the couple said, “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain.”
