Japanese Delegation Visits Khufu II Project Complex

CAIRO, Sept. 30 (SEE)- Masaki Noki, Japanese Ambassador to Cairo accompanied by a parliamentary delegation visited on Saturday the  Khufu II project Complex .

During the visit, the delegation was accompanied by the head of the Restoration Department of the project Eissa Zidan, Archaeological Supervisor Mamdouh Taha.

Zidan said that the visit included a tour inside the pit of the boat and the restoration laboratories located on the site.

The restoration project is a joint project between Japan and Egypt with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Higashi Nippon International University.

The team has so far succeeded in lifting nearly 960 wooden parts from the crater, in which 900 have been restored.

675 pieces were transferred in preparation for display at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
