Iraq Defeats Yemen with 3 Goals to Qualify for Second Stage

CAIRO, Jan.12 (SEE)- Iraq qualified to the last 16 stage of the Asian Cup tournament after defeating Yemen with 3 clean goals in the second stage of group D.

The Iraqi team ended the first half with two clean goals scored by Muhannad Ali and Bashar Rasan Baniyan in the 11th and 19th minutes. The result remained the same until the first minute of stoppage time, which saw Mohammed Baeris scoring the third goal of the Iraqi team.

Iraq now have six points competing with his Iran over the supremacy of the group. Iraq's first victory came after they defeated Vietnam with two clean goals.

The former Asian Champions did not find it difficult to win against Yemen today at the Sharjah Club Stadium to become the fifth nation to qualify for the second round after Jordan qualified for Group B, China and South Korea from Group C and Iran from Group D.
