In this context, Dr. Rasha Maraqa, a psychological counseling specialist, provides some golden tips that must be followed by mothers to promote their daughters’ femininity; that is, being “Ladies” who are beautiful, neat, elegant, well-spoken, self-confident and able to deal properly with the surrounding community.

First of all, Dr. Maraqa asserted the importance of training little girls to pursue essential daily habits that include; brushing teeth, taking a shower at least once a day, washing hands before and after eating and after going to the toilet, combing hair and trimming nails.

Furthermore, Maraqa said it’s very important to train daughters how to have smooth footsteps and proper postures while sitting and standing, by keeping their backs straight and their legs closed.

Additionally, Maraqa emphasized teaching daughters to avoid cursing, lying, gossiping, and loud voice.

During their early years, the psychological counseling specialist warned from being closely engaged with their brothers, in order not to be affected by their masculine behavior and games characterized by violence and severity.

Also, Dr. Maraqa advised mothers to urge their daughters to keep their fitness through walking, running, swimming, while staying away from power games that badly affect their bodies’ structure.

Other crucial thing a mother should do is, accompanying her daughter while shopping, as this helps the young ones in forming their taste in buying things like; clothes, accessories, shoes, and even home accessories.

Dr. Rasha Maraqa advised mothers to urge their daughters, during the teenage years, to use a suitable underarm deodorant, besides following a hair-removal routine.

“During their- daughters- monthly period, they should be taught their daily routine and the right way to keep their body clean and well smelled”, she added.

In order to build their self confidence, Maraqa said that mother should praise their daughters' appearance, good manners and small achievements on regular basis.

The doctor confirmed that some words like “you’re beautiful and will become a gorgeous bride in the future” make a big difference and enhance girls' psychology, besides building their self-confidence in a very positive way.

On the other hand, Dr. Maraqa warned mothers from comparing their daughters with their friends, or criticizing whatever problem they suffer from like being skinny, obese, short or tall.

Finally, Dr. Maraqa urged mothers to take care of their behavior and actions, especially in the presence of their daughters, as they are the role models that little girls always follow and imitate.
