WASHINGTON, Sept 28 (SEE)- The CEO of Google Sundar Pichai ‬ agreed on Friday to testify before the US Congress next month, as part of the concern to protect the data and privacy of users.

The owner of the search engine had refused to appear before Congress in a hearing earlier this month, which angered members of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Kevin McCarthy, the House majority leader pointed to the importance of transparency in the social media, adding that Pichai is committed to conducting this long-awaited debate.

The US president has accused Google that it is promoting false news, adding that the Republican media is being withheld, as Google and others are suppressing their voices and hiding good news from the public.

"There is no political motivation in the search results," Google responded.
