CAIRO, Mar. 15 (SEE)- Once its doors open, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is forecast to flourish tourism in-between Egypt and Japan, according to Mr. Yoshifumi Omura, the Head of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s Cairo Office.

“I recall that the number of visitors for Tutankhamen’s mask exposition in Japan saw high turn-outs,” added Omura. “Also, Tutankhamen’s exposition in 2012 retracted many guests.”

“International conferences and exhibitions are essential to discuss how to utilize projects perfectly,” said Omura during his speech at the 11th Egypt-Japan Business Conference.

Since November 2016, JICA has been financially aiding the restoration of various projects including the refurbishment of the King’s boat- under the supervision of Mr. Sako Juishorima. The institution  offers training for workers as well.

Owing to its ongoing rebounding, the tourism sector currently makes up to over 11% of Egypt’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Although the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir is an enthralling touristic destination, albeit there was a need to establish another Bavarian complex to exhibit the masses of rare unearthed treasures.

Ramses II’s statue, which has been relocated several times, will finally settle at GEM’s thresholds, welcoming visitors in.

After saluting the king, guests will instantly take the stairs, embraced by inveterate monuments, arriving at radiant overture overlooking the Great Pyramid.

The edifice will also include a hall showcasing king Tutankhamun’s antiquities, a kids’ museum and a conference hall.
