Authorities in France evacuated The Eiffel Tower after a man tried to climb Paris' iconic monument.

"The man entered the tower normally and started to climb once he was on the second floor,” a spokeswoman for the tower’s operator said, according to Reuters.

"Eiffel is currently closed until further notice. We advice our visitors to postpone their visit to avoid long queues," Tower Management tweeted.

A group of specially-trained rescuers negotiated with this person to persuade him not to commit such an act.

Eiffel Tower is one of Paris' main tourist attractions. More than six million people had visited the landmark last year.
