Farouk El-Baz receives 2018 Inamori Ethics Prize

WASHINGTON, Sept 14 (SEE)- The Egyptian scientist Farouk El-Baz received on Friday the 2018 Inamori Ethics Prize for his overall scientific achievements at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.

The university held a celebration and scientific symposium, where El-Baz gave a public lecture on his career and research.

Director of the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence Shannon French said that El-Baz has shown tremendous moral leadership throughout his life. "He is a national and an international treasure," she added.

French pointed out that El-Baz used space technology to help the Apollo landing on the moon, as well as his critical efforts to discover groundwater in arid regions to help save lives and avoid conflicts around the globe.

The Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence awards a prize each year for a role model who enjoys ethical leadership and contributes to the improvement of human lives.
