Facebook: Security breach reaches 50 million accounts

WASHINGTON, Sept 28 (SEE)- Facebook said in an official statement on Friday that its engineering team discovered a security breach affecting nearly 50 million accounts.

"Facebook continues to investigate the matter, the investigations are in their initial stages and may take more time, and we will take all legal action against any party that proves its involvement in the penetration." the statement said.

Facebook said it was not aware if hackers had access to personal or bank information.

Facebook users were logged out of their accounts as a safety precaution after the breach was detected.
