CAIRO, Mar. 19 (SEE)- Just like Egypt, India is home to alluring long-standing hallmarks, enthralling travelers over and over again. One may ask: what if these two nations come together and enhance their bilateral touristic ties? Indeed, a dynamic duet will roll on, proliferating all not only economically but also culturally.

This proposal was put forward by Dr. Vinod Bahade, Commerce Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Cairo, in his keynote speech before audience at the “Know India Tourism Seminar.”

“India and Egypt enjoy huge tourism potential and this seminar is aimed to bring the world’s largest civilizations together,” added Bahade. “India is almost a continent filled with historical attractions and we encourage Egyptians to discover it.”

Innovating touristic programs besides organizing dual festivals will surely strengthen both countries’ bilateral cooperation, as per Mr. Ismail Abdel Hamid, Advisor to the Egyptian Tourism Authority Chairman.

“In 2018, the number of Indian tourists amounted to 126k, marking an unprecedented figure,” said Abdel Hamid, calling for the return of direct flights along the route connecting Cairo and New Delhi.

Globally, tourism makes up 10% of the world’s total economic output, it is the fastest growing sector.

“Therefore, it is essential to expand investment in the tourism infrastructure,” noted Mr. Mohamed Youssef, Executive Director, Egyptian Businessman Association (EBA).

Mr. A. Seetharaman, Assistant Director at India Tourism Dubai Office, pointed out to the tremendous effort done by the Indian government to determine how to connect with visitors and reinforce the market.

“Currently, developed services facilitate visa issuing. Also, a free hotline is available to answer tourists’ inquiries, operating both domestically and internationally,” he said.

“Know India Tourism Seminar” was organized by the Indian embassy in Cairo in collaboration with India Tourism Office in Dubai.
