CAIRO, Mar. 20 (SEE)- Egypt’s citrus exports showed a satisfactory increase this season, amounting to nearly 833k tons, as per Dr. Ahmad Al-Attar, Head of the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine.
“Meanwhile, shipments are underway to fuel the global demand,” said Al-Attar.
“One of the key factors boosting the sector is ensuring that all relevant bodies apply strict measures to surveil production in accordance with international standards of export quality,” he added.
Procedures include installing traceability systems, monitoring products through various stages from agriculture to packaging and shipping.
Egypt is the world’s second largest citrus exporter. In 2018, figures rose to unprecedented records of 1.7 million tons of exports.
