Egyptian, Kuwaiti FMs confer mutual ties

CAIRO, Sept 11 (SEE) -

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Tuesday with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah to discuss ways of developing bilateral ties in all domains as well as consultation on a raft of regional and international issues of common interest.

In a statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said that Shoukry lauded the supportive role played by Kuwait towards averting the dangers threatening the region now that Kuwait chairs non-permanent seat in the UN's Security Council.

"He also hailed the Kuwaiti efforts to ease the humanitarian suffering in various warring areas," Abu Zeid noted.

Regarding the development of the situation in Syria, the two top diplomats stressed the importance of political solution as well as maintaining the unity of the Syrian territories.

"They pointed out that Egypt and Kuwait are committed to supporting stability efforts in Yemen, topped by the UN efforts in line with its resolutions," the spokesman continued.

Concerning Palestine, the two ministers agreed on intensifying consultation and coordination within the coming period to follow up the developments of the Palestinian cause and solve the deadlocked humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories.

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti top diplomat expressed his happiness for Egypt's restoration of its regional leading role in the region by settling a number of crises.

Sabah, who doubles as the Kuwaiti deputy prime minister, also said that Egypt's security is a part of the Kuwaiti national security.
