CAIRO, Dec. 6 (SEE)- Chairman of the Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO) Essam El-Saghir said on Thursday that citizens will be able to receive remittances from expatriates via post this month.

He added that the service covers countries with a high concentration of Egyptians and ready for expansion in the coming period.

The number of Egyptians abroad account for more than 9 million citizens, mostly concentrated in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait.

El-Saghir noted that expatriates will be able to transfer remittances in any currency, adding that the commission fees will be lower than other transfer companies or banks.

Last August, the minister of communications and information technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Immigration and Expatriates Affairs in the presence of Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli allowing post offices to receive remittances from Egyptians abroad.

The new service will be promoted through propaganda in embassies and consulates through the Ministry of Immigration.

The recipient will receive a text message on his cell phone with the amount of the transfer and will be able to collect it from the nearest post office.

The Egyptian Post Authority has a broad network of branches reaching 4 thousand offices in all governorates.
