EBRD Considers Funding EV Charging Stations in Egypt

CAIRO, Dec. 12 (SEE)- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering to fund electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Egypt during the coming period.

Janet Heckman, Executive Director of the EBRD for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region said that the bank discussed last week with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy funding the construction of electric power stations and wind farm projects.

She added that the bank is currently operating with the Ministry of Transportation to discuss the funding of a number of a private-public partnership (PPP) projects, including ports, subway, and rail projects.

In the health sector, Heckman announced that the bank has a long-lasting experience in the field, noting that Egypt has good potential for future projects.

The bank signed an agreement with the government to finance Kafr El-Sheikh Kitchener Drain with 149 million euros on the sidelines of the Africa Forum 2018 in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Funds are allocated for cleaning the drain and the establishment of a desalination plant.
