Culture Min. Inaugurates Book Fair during 7th Edition Of Aswan Culture And Arts Festival

-Dr. Inas Abdel-Dayem , Minister of Culture, inaugurated the 7th edition Of Aswan International Culture And Arts Festival. It is being held within the frame work of Egypt presidency for the African Union and organized by the General Organization of Culture Palaces.

The edition is headed by Dr. Ahmed Awwad and in cooperation with the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector, headed by Dr. Heba Yousedf. The opening ceremonies began with inaugurating a book fair.

In Al- Akkad Culture Palace, more than 90 titles were presented, in which the Culture Palaces Organization has participated with in the golden jubilee of the Cairo International Book Fair, followed by screening a documentary film about the festival and the participating troupes in Fawzi Fawzi Theater.

This was followed by presenting a show for Al- Sibaiya Troupe for Religious Songs in participation with Algeria for Religious Songs Troupe, then all the artistic troupes participated in presenting a dancing show with their traditional costumes expressing the folklore of each country.

Abdel-Dayem said that the festival is an important way to know more about the cultures and the civilization of different countries for achieving more communication, especially with the Nile basin countries. The province of Aswan, which was declared as the capital of African youth ,has became a gateway for artistic and cultural communication with the continent.

She pointed out to the strategy adopted by the Ministry of Culture to achieve cultural justice by focusing on the governorates of Upper Egypt and organizing book fairs to rotate all the governorates of Egypt not only the cities but also within the villages .

The minister stressed that the ministry invests in the mind of the citizen to develop and promote the values of enlightenment and knowledge to confront thoughts by thoughts and to eliminate extremists trends.

Abdel-Dayem also gave the Governor of Aswan " The Memory of Book" Encyclopedia, which was published recently on the occasion of the centenary of 1919 revolution .

On the other hand, Major General Ahmed Ibrahim praised the efforts of the Ministry of Culture, that serves the people of Aswan; it has been positively reflected on the society of Aswan , especially among the youth in schools and universities. He explained that Aswan is a unique city in its culture and it has become a platform for enormous cultural and artistic heritage .

It is worthy of note that Aswan International Arts and Culture Festival includes 23 artistic troupes from 16 countries representing 3 continents , 10 of them are African :- Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo- the guest of honor - Morocco, Mauritius, Ghana and Kenya. In addition to six Asian and European countries:- China – Indonesia, Palestine - Poland – Greece- Jordan.

The activities are held in many different touristic and archaeological sites including:- Botanical Garden - High Dam - Nuba Museum - Temple of Phiala - The Nile Museum - the cultural palaces of Aswan, Daraw , Hassan Fakhruddin and Kalabsha- Aswan University -Sheik Saleh and Alrdesah.
