Beijing, Jan.15 (SEE)- Chinese Change-e’4 was the first spacecraft to achieve soft-landing on the far side (or the dark side) of the moon. The spacecraft’s mission is part of a lunar exploration Chinese program. The moment when the probe landed was broadcasted by Russia Today.

The China National Space Administration (CNSA) mentioned that the probe landed at 10:26 (Beijing Time), on the fourth of January, on the Von Kármán crater at South Pole-Aitken basin considered to be the largest, deepest, and oldest crater on the moon’s surface. The probe was launched on 7 December at 02:23 (Beijing Time). It arrived in lunar orbit on 12 December at 8:45 (Beijing Time).

The lunar probe mission was riskier than previous ones, such as Change-e’3’s mission in 2013, as the land is rocky.
