Cairo University president, Japanese amb. tackle educational cooperation

Cairo University President Mohamed Othman Al Khesht discussed on Tuesday with Japanese Ambassador in Cairo Takehiro Kagawa means of promoting cooperation between Cairo university and Japanese universities.

In statements, Khesht said the talks tackled means of exchanging students and furthering cooperation in the academic, research and cultural domains.

Cairo University had inked several cooperation protocols with Japanese universities, he noted.

He suggested establishing a joint academic degree for post graduate students in the fields of media, agriculture and economy in addition to offering joint academic programs for researchers.

He also suggested that Cairo and Hiroshima universities have a joint master's degree under the theme of "for perpetual peace".

The talks also mulled means of speeding work up of a project for expanding and renovating Abu El-Reesh, Hospital which is bankrolled by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
