British University in Egypt (BUC) opened nanotechnology center’s laboratories for all Egyptian researchers, so that they could work on their research experiments that contribute in resolving issues in vital sectors: water, agriculture, and energy.

The Board of Trustees’ Chairman Mohamed Farid Khamis confirmed that the BUC believes in the scientific research’s importance and how it affects the country’s development.

“We are opening nanotechnology center to all Egyptian researchers to give them the opportunity to conduct research analysis and texts using the available devices. This is a public service offered by the BUC for all Egyptian researchers specialized in different fields,” Khamis said, adding that the center includes six experts considered amongst the best nanotechnology worldwide.”

On the other hand, BUC’s president Ahmed Hamad said, “The center has modern devices in the field. Electron microscope and X-ray diffraction are available.” He added that these kinds of centers are opened for academics and researchers to serve their projects.

On his part, the university’s vice-president Yehia Bahei El-Din expressed, “The center was inaugurated at the beginning of December. It is one of the BUC 14 centers that publish their work in the international centers. This is what made the BUC obtain the first place, among private Egyptian universities for the fourth consecutive year, according to the QS and US News’ classification.”

In this regard, Taher Salah, the center’s Director, said: “We are the first private university in Egypt to establish a research center in the field of nanotechnology and its application. The center has 8 specialized domains: nano-materials’ production, physical diagnosis, chemical diagnosis, and biological applications.

Salah concluded, “The center is working on resolving some issues that face the Egyptian society in many fields, such as: new and renewable energy; agriculture and water; and pharmaceutical and medical research.” He added that this move opens the gate to nanotechnology sciences and researches to practically solve the problems that face the country using the most developed global technologies”
