Bibliotheca Alexandrina Organizes Visit to GEM

CAIRO, Dec. 12 (SEE)- Bibliotheca Alexandrina in cooperation with Zahi Hawass Center for Egyptology and the Giza Higher Institute of Engineering organized a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

This visit is very important for GEM, especially amongst university students to spread archaeological awareness and introduce the achievements that take place in Egypt within the projects of the Ministry of Antiquities, which is fully supported by the political leadership in a great civilizational boom.

The students were received by Dr. Osama Abu Alkhair, Director General of the Restoration Center, and Dr. Issa Zeidan, Director of Restoration Center. 

Abu Alkhair said: “Today’s visit is of special importance through cooperation of the organizing institutions. Such events are aimed to spread archaeological awareness and to educate youth to about how these monuments were transferred to the GEM and how to take care of them as pieces of the crown.”

Dr. Khaled Fajal, Dean of Giza Higher Institute of Engineering, noted that GEM is a giant edifice that shows the great enthusiasm of ancient Egyptians constructing the greatest monuments in the world. He also praised the role of restorers in preserving these artifacts that show the greatness and beauty of Egypt.

On her part, Professor Dalia Jazairi, Director of Public Relations at the Institute pointed out that this visit is one of the most important visit in line with their cooperation with Dr. Zahi Hawass Center in cultural events, remarking: “This visit gave youth a sense of pride and interest in the history of ancient Egypt.”
