Among the American actors who, during the last two decades, achieved great fame is Robert De Niro. He is known for his charisma, intelligence and success in playing leading heroic roles in Hollywood's world.
I recently watched one of his most recent films; The Wizgard of Lies. This movie features a unique operation of stealing which can ever happen in an advanced democratic state, loaded with various means of financial control as well as precise laws; the United States of America.
The main actor in this operation is Mr. Bernard Madoff, who was arrested on 11 December 2008 by the FBI upon information from his two sons, fearing that they would caught up in this crime if they preferred to stay silence about it.
This operation, called the Ponzi series, was implemented over decades and gained more than $50 billion.
I do not know whether a similar operation carried out by one person has ever happened; he hid it even from his wife, let alone his sons who were working with him.
The boys were forbidden to reach the 17th floor, where bad guys were engineering this roguery. In the movie, one sees people loading the accounts and safes of Bernard Madoff with millions of dollars to find themselves once without a single diem, among those, people who, eventually, killed themselves.
Bernard Madoff was an ordinary teacher of swimming before he set up a $5,000 investment fund. He was known for his intelligence, until he proved successful in the world of finance. His intelligence led him to head the Nasdak, the technological value exchange, from 1990 to 1991.
Bernard Madoff is also one of the New York Jewish elite who inspire financial intelligence wherever they talk.
This reminds me of the time when I was studying PhD at the University of Toulouse, France. Back then, I was one of the main officials at a research centers then. And at some of our meetings, we used to eat or have a walk where every time they were saying that the owner of a certain restaurant was a Jewish.
Afterward, I discovered that the owners of all the city's luxury restaurants are Jewish.
How did Bernard Madoff take over his victims? The issue is very simple. He took the money of new investors to give it to the old investors, and thus gave everyone the impression of permanent, certain and fast success in a world of money where uncertainty prevails.
Consequently, this fraudster constantly attracts many new investors, who were unaware of how this man was wasting their assets. When the financial crisis broke out in 2008, some tried, helplessly, to withdraw their deposits and their properties, only to find out about Bernard Madoff's scandal.
Authorities were contacted and the trial of the criminal who was arrested for successive attempts began. All this followed by ruin and bankruptcy which surprise the world.
Those who watched the movie remain fascinated by the large number of victims. Among those names, banks and institutions that have become victims due to one person's criminal act, Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel, filmmaker Steven Spielberg, the Spanish bank (which alone lost more than $2 billion), and the list is long.
I was surprised with my wife, Dr. Asma Al-'Alwy, who was watching the movie with me. She studied the laws of the stock exchange at the university.
Where was the authority regulating the US stock exchange? It is true that it has investigated the work of Bernard Madoff three times, but every time it was doing nothing. If this happened in one of our Arab countries, the authorities would have been charged and exposed to international sanctions.
The laws of greed, hypocrisy, fraud and lobbying, and the lack of transparency and clarity that the international financial institutions impose, by the way, on poor countries, are the causes of of the financial crisis of 2008 that created a man like Bernard Madoff.
It also created these strange policies of powerful countries, enforced on some countries, including Arab countries. if you read in serious analysis on Jewish and Israeli hands behind that crisis, do not be surprised.
