Around 4000 Runners Participate in Pyramids Marathon (With Photos)

CAIRO, Feb.15 (SEE) - The Giza Pyramids celebrated today a race under the title Pyramids Marathon where around 4000 runners, from around 75countries, participated.

Pyramids Marathon was presented

by New Balance, sponsored by Makadi Heights, and organized by the TriFactory, in

cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, the Ministry of

Tourism, and the Ministry of Antiquities.

ON Sport was the exclusive media partner,

while official banking, radio, tourism, medical, charity, sports, and transportation

partners were ON Sport, Housing and Development Bank, Nile FM/Nogoum FM, Tez

Tour Egypt, Prime Clinics, Control NGO, LyteSpeed, and Uber Egypt,

respectively.

Tourism Minister Rania Al Mashat, Sports Monister Ashraf Sobhy, Antiquities Minister Khaled Anani, and the Supreme Antiquities Council of Antiquities’ General Secretary Mostafa Waziri took part in the begging of the marathon.

Afterward, they handed the prize to Australia’s Gregory Blinkton who finished the 42 KM’s race in 2:32:56.

On the other side, British Wimen

Gorgan, who finished in 3:42:22, won the 42 KM female’s first place.

The marathon was pided to the

following categories: 42 KM, 21 KM, and 10KM. In addition, Red Bull celebrated

a 4KM race.

Members of several diplomatic missions

partook in this giant race including the embassies of Slovenia, Switzerland,

Denmark, and Finland.

On his twitter account, the

Danish Ambassador to Egypt Tomas Anker Christensen mentioned, “Incredibly energizing

to run with the Embassy All Star Team at the Pyramids Marathon and 10 KM with

5000 years of history watching over us.”  

Parallel to this marathon, there

was a bike and cycling race taking place at Egypt’s New Capital where Sobhy also

participated. The 11-KM-race took place between the Cathedral of the Nativity and

the Abdel Fattah Al Aalim Mosque. The first three winners were awarded

bicycles.

The race was celebrated after Sobhy met on Wednesday with Chinese investor to study the opportunity of establishing a bike factory in Egypt.
