Arab Open University Celebrates Graduation of 12th Batch

CAIRO, Jan. 29 (SEE) – Arab Open University is celebrating today the graduation of 216 students constituting the 12th batch in the university, whose branch was opened in Egypt in 2003. The ceremony will be attended by Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and Dr. Tarek Shawki, Minister of Education.

The students were enrolled in different programs of the university. The programs are: Computer Science, Business Administration, English Language Program and Education.

Dr. Abdel Haye Obeid, director of the university stated that this batch includes students from 32 Arab, African and even European countries.

“Besides Egyptians, there are students from South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea and many Arab countries.. We have some Egyptian students who have American and European citizenship who come to join various programs of the university,” he added.

Obeid explained that this year and for the first time, the Minister of Education will attend the ceremony since it includes the graduation of 50 teachers who received the Early Childhood Diploma, within scholarships for 200 teachers the ministry provided for those working in the field of childhood education.

He added that the university is currently witnessing expansions in the new academic programs such as the media, which will witness the graduation of its first class next year, and the postgraduate programs such as Master of English Language, MBA, Diploma in Early Childhood Education.

Besides, there is an expansion in the place where the University purchased a piece of land adjacent to the main building in ‘Al Shrouk’ city to receive more students and staff at the university.

Worth mentioning is that the university has 3200 students in different stages with 80 faculty members and staff.

In its teaching process, the university relies on the integrated learning method through various teaching methods including interactive lectures and online teaching.
