Antiquities Ministry completed the 1st phase of Wadi Dir St. Catherine development project at South Sinai in cooperation with the Local Development, Culture and Environment Ministries, Housing and Construction bank as well as the Council of Ministers' Information Centre.
Dr. Gamal Mustafa, Head of the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish Archeology Sector, visited the Wadi Dir St. Catharine to inspect the project and find out the latest developments. He was accompanied by the Higher Committee for Project Coordination.

Dr. Mustafa explained that the 1st phase work of project included paving roads, leading to Wadi Dir of St. Catherine and Mount Sinai, in addition to building bus and cars stations and raising the efficiency of all services in bazaars region.
Furthermore, the electronic security system development equipped by x-ray devices was linked to the control room and electronic control panel were connected to cameras.
He said that the second phase work would include lighting system development, the security outlets at the archaeological entrances and the area of the camels used in climbing Mount Sinai.
