Ain Shams Univ. Opens "Silk Road" Research, Studies Center

Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, opened the Center for Studies and Research of the Silk Road at Ain Shams University, in the presence of Dr. Abdul Wahab Ezzat, President of the University, Song Aiguo, China's ambassador in Cairo, Dr. Liu Wei, president of the Chinese People's University, and Dr. Hussein Issa, Chairman of the Committee of the Plan and Budget in the House of Representatives.

The center aims to conduct all studies, research and strategic and logistical consultations of interest to the two countries, as well as exchange of experts, researchers and students between the two universities, and organize many events and joint conferences between the two countries.

The minister said: "The Silk Road Research Center in cooperation with Ain Shams University is a fruitful model for cooperation between the two countries, stressing the depth of relations between the two countries, praising the success of the Chinese experience in the world.

Abdul Ghaffar noted that the center will provide support to all companies and institutions to carry out legal, technical and economic studies in Egypt and the whole region, and will increase opportunities for cooperation with Egyptian universities.

On his part, Dr. Ezzat, confirmed that the center is the first in Egypt and the Middle East, and the second in the world, in cooperation between the universities of Ain Shams and the Chinese people. In addition to that, it is the first university in China in the field of economic studies and research.

On the other hand, Song said: "China is keen to support bilateral cooperation with Egypt, especially that Egypt is a pivotal state and the gateway of the Middle East and Africa

Furthermore, Dr. Liu pointed out that the University of Ain Shams signed the agreement to establish a Center for 'Silk Road' Studies and Research last October in cooperation with the People's University of China at the University's headquarters in Beijing, China, as the first platform for Chinese studies in the Middle East and Africa.
